Baxter Recognized by AMCHAM for Advancing Sustainable Dialysis Care
Baxter Kidney Care (Vantive) received accolades from the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) for its dedication to sustainability through two notable projects—Green Nephrology and Jom Recycle—addressing dialysis-related waste in Thailand and Malaysia.
AMCHAM honored Baxter with the “Corporate Social Impact Recognition Awards 2024” in Thailand and the “AMCHAM Cares Award 2024” in Malaysia, celebrating its innovative approach to reducing plastic waste in dialysis treatment.
Paul Uthaichalanond, General Manager for Baxter Kidney Care in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, expressed pride in the recognition. He highlighted the company’s collaboration with governments, communities, and partners like SCG in Thailand and BCSD in Malaysia to enhance both patient care and environmental sustainability.
Award Recognition and Projects
Thailand – Green Nephrology Initiative
Baxter’s Green Nephrology project, active for over a decade, focuses on recycling plastic bags used in peritoneal dialysis into new, high-quality products. This initiative minimizes waste and demonstrates a commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Malaysia – Jom Recycle Program
The Jom Recycle program, part of Malaysia’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, provides a sustainable solution for recycling dialysis plastic bags. It raises environmental awareness within the medical community and reduces healthcare-related waste.
Baxter Kidney Care is a leader in home-based peritoneal dialysis in Southeast Asia, empowering patients to manage kidney disease independently while reducing healthcare’s environmental footprint.
