Mill Hill International School Thailand is set to transform education in Chiang Mai as the first British international school in the region. Offering the esteemed UK curriculum within a Thai cultural context, the school aims to create adaptable, skilled students ready for global opportunities.
Curriculum and Vision
Led by Mrs. Kate Simon, currently heading Grimsdell School and Mill Hill Pre-Preparatory School in the UK, the institution will follow a curriculum combining academic excellence and essential life skills. Students will undertake IGCSE and A-Level qualifications, known for nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability.
This initiative is backed by the Mill Hill Education Group in partnership with Ornsirin Holding Public Company Limited, a prominent developer in Northern Thailand. The collaboration ensures high academic standards, individualized talent development, and a focus on fostering global citizenship among students.
Admissions
The admissions process evaluates students’ developmental stages:
- Ages 3-5: Prioritize physical, emotional, and foundational communication development; no prior English required.
- Ages 6-10: Assess skills in English, mathematics, and teamwork, along with analytical and social abilities.
Educational Features
Dr. Yuthachai Damrongmanee, School Director, highlighted the school’s blend of UK education standards with Thai values. Lessons are taught by native English-speaking teachers carefully selected to uphold these standards.
The curriculum includes diverse co-curricular activities and advanced digital tools like AI and blended learning, ensuring flexible learning options. The modern, safety-focused campus is located near major transport routes in Chiang Mai.
Graduates receive IGCSE qualifications with opportunities to progress to A-Level programs, preparing them for further education and professional careers.
Future Plans
Ms. Kanyanuk Rattanasatchan, Business Manager, announced that the campus will open in September 2025. Construction is expected to finish by December 2024. Phase one will serve 150-160 students from Nursery to Year 6.
The school will hold open houses and curriculum presentations in October 2024 to introduce its offerings to the community. It has already generated interest from both local and international families.
