MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2025: A Historic Year for Thai Cuisine
First Three MICHELIN Stars, fresh entries, and a focus on sustainability highlight Thailand’s vibrant culinary evolution.
Bangkok, 29 November 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) unveiled the 8th edition of The MICHELIN Guide Thailand, expanding its coverage to Chon Buri. The guide celebrates the country’s rich culinary landscape, introducing remarkable achievements and innovative dining experiences.
Highlights from the 2025 MICHELIN Guide Thailand:
- Three MICHELIN Stars: Sorn achieves Thailand’s first-ever Three MICHELIN Stars, promoted from Two Stars.
- Two MICHELIN Stars: Seven restaurants, including Côte by Mauro Colagreco, elevated from One Star, join Baan Tepa, Chef’s Table, Gaa, Mezzaluna, R-Haan, and Sühring.
- One MICHELIN Star: 28 restaurants awarded, featuring five new entries – AKKEE, AVANT, GOAT, Aulis, and Coda (promoted from MICHELIN Selected).
- Green Stars: Four restaurants recognized for sustainability, with Baan Tepa joining PRU, Haoma, and Jampa.
- Bib Gourmand: 156 venues offer great food at affordable prices, with 20 new additions.
- MICHELIN Selected: 270 establishments, including 44 new entries, showcasing diverse culinary talent.
Chon Buri makes its first appearance with 20 featured establishments, including five Bib Gourmand and 15 MICHELIN Selected.
Expanding Gastronomic Tourism
TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, emphasized the collaboration’s role in positioning Thailand as a global food destination. She highlighted how the guide supports TAT’s “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025” and aligns with the “5 Must Do in Thailand” and “Must Seek New Cities” campaigns. The addition of Chon Buri reflects this commitment to promoting emerging destinations.
Celebrating Excellence
Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guides, praised the milestone of awarding Thailand’s first Three MICHELIN Stars. He highlighted the guide’s dedication to celebrating Thai cuisine’s creativity, diversity, and excellence, making the country a must-visit for food enthusiasts.
Special Recognition
Four individuals received MICHELIN Guide Special Awards for 2025:
- Young Chef Award: Sittikorn (Ou) Chantop, AKKEE.
- Opening of the Year Award: Dimitrios Moudios, Ōre.
- Service Award: Yupa (Ying) Sukkasem, Baan Tepa.
- Sommelier Award: Thansith Wasinonth, Côte by Mauro Colagreco.
Growing Culinary Coverage
The MICHELIN Guide now encompasses Bangkok, Phuket, Phang Nga, Chiang Mai, Ayutthaya, Isan, Ko Samui, Mainland Surat Thani, and Chon Buri.
Earlier this year, TAT introduced MICHELIN Keys Thailand, recognizing 58 hotels for exceptional service, further enhancing the country’s reputation for hospitality and cuisine.
