Collaboration between BSRC, GISTDA, and Thailand’s Zoological Park Organization leverages geoinformatics to protect endangered species and support biodiversity.

Bangchak Sriracha Public Company Limited (BSRC) has partnered with the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) and the Zoological Park Organization under the Royal Patronage to support Thailand’s wildlife conservation efforts.

This new collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed during Thailand Space Week 2024 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani on November 7, aims to safeguard endangered species using advanced space and geoinformatics technology.

Executives from all three organizations attended the MoU signing. Key representatives included BSRC’s CFO, Mrs. Matana Sutatham, GISTDA’s Executive Director, Dr. Pakorn Apaphant, and Mr. Narongwit Chodchoi, Director of Khao Kheow Open Zoo. Additional witnesses included Dr. Bowornsak Wanichkul, Government Relations & Sustainability Lead at BSRC, and Dr. Siriluk Prukpitikul, Deputy Executive Director of GISTDA.

Under the banner project Bio-Conservation: A Mission for Biodiversity, the alliance will focus on reintroducing the critically endangered Great Hornbill into protected areas in northern Thailand.

The hornbills, bred at Khao Kheow Open Zoo, will be equipped with GPS tracking devices designed by GISTDA to monitor their progress as they adapt to their natural environment.

This conservation effort aligns with BSRC’s commitment to sustainable practices, reflecting its mission to “shape a sustainable future with premier energy through innovative solutions.” The Great Hornbill serves as the project’s flagship species, highlighting BSRC’s dedication to a balanced ecosystem for future generations.
