Bangkok Bank Showcases Commitment to Sustainability at Sustainability Expo 2024
Bangkok Bank participated in Sustainability Expo 2024 under the theme “Creating Value for a Sustainable Future,” highlighting its successful sustainability initiatives and financial products. The Bank presented projects like ‘Bualuang Save the Earth,’ ‘Rak Tha Chin,’ and ‘3R+’ along with sustainable financial solutions, such as green loans and ESG bonds. The event reinforced Bangkok Bank’s role as a key player in promoting sustainable development.
Senior executives from Bangkok Bank, including Senior Executive Vice President Chaiyarit Anuchitworawong, welcomed prominent figures like Thanphuying Putrie Viravaidya, Chairperson of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, and Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, President and CEO of ThaiBev and organizing chairman of the expo, to the Bank’s booth.
Bangkok Bank’s booth showcased products promoting environmental conservation and community support, such as loans for green projects and waste reduction initiatives. The ‘Bualuang Save the Earth’ initiative includes a 3R+ waste management strategy aiming for zero waste to landfill by 2025. The Rak Tha Chin project tackles the waste crisis at the Tha Chin estuary, preventing over 20,000 kilograms of waste from entering the Gulf of Thailand. The Bank also supports water resource management through infrastructure projects benefiting over 2,000 households.
Bangkok Bank’s sustainable finance initiatives focus on helping businesses and consumers transition to environmentally friendly practices through products like the Bualuang Green Loan and ESG bonds, which accounted for 76% of the total ESG bond issuance in Thailand in 2023.
The Bank’s efforts in sustainability have earned recognition with awards such as Best Bank for Sustainable Finance in Thailand and Outstanding Leadership in ESG-Related Loans for Asia Pacific from Global Finance magazine.
Visitors to the Bangkok Bank booth at Sustainability Expo 2024 can also engage with SME entrepreneurs like MACLOEI Macadamia Shop and herbal cosmetics brand Chivavithi, which operate under ESG principles. The booth, located at D15 in the Better Community zone, is open until October 6, 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
