True Corporation Earns Top Sustainability Ranking for Seventh Year Running
Telecom Leader Sets Bold 2025 Sustainability Goals
True Corporation has secured the title of the world’s most sustainable telecom company for the seventh year in a row. Recognized by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) 2024, the company achieved a remarkable score of 95 out of 100 in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), reflecting its exceptional performance across environmental, social, and governance metrics. Chief Executive Officer Manat Manavutiveth highlighted that the company’s sustainability success reaffirms its commitment to environmental care, social impact, and ethical governance. He stated that True aims to empower Thailand with safer, healthier, and more productive digital solutions in 2025.
Driving Environmental Change
True earned 94 out of 100 for its environmental efforts. Its carbon footprint reduction and shift to renewable energy played a significant role. Over 10,000 network sites now run on solar power, and the company has introduced recycling programs to cut waste.
Key 2025 environmental goals include:
- Supporting suppliers in lowering emissions through data-driven solutions and green financing aligned with Science Based Targets.
- Implementing smart energy systems using AI and IoT to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20%.
- Expanding student-focused innovation projects like 2024’s e-Waste HACK BKK to encourage tech-driven environmental solutions.
Enhancing Digital Access and Inclusion
Scoring 99 out of 100 in the social category, True continues to invest in community development. Its network already covers 99% of Thailand’s population on 4G and over 92% on 5G. In 2025, it plans to complete network upgrades to boost speed and coverage.
Key initiatives for 2025 include:
- Plookpanya: Expanding digital education programs for 32 million users and focusing on AI-driven skills like critical thinking.
- Tech for Good: Scaling solutions like the True Smart Early Warning System (TSEWS), which prevents human-elephant conflicts, and increasing patents from 100 to 125.
- CyberSafe: Improving protections against online scams with expanded features by March 2025.
Raising Governance Standards
True earned 92 out of 100 for governance practices. It leads the way in AI ethics, becoming Thailand’s first telecom firm to adopt GSMA’s Responsible AI Roadmap. In early 2025, the company will roll out Responsible AI by Design, ensuring secure and ethical AI integration.
CEO Manavutiveth emphasized that True Corporation is committed to setting higher sustainability benchmarks in the telecom industry and inspiring businesses to adopt greener, more ethical practices.
