Thrilling Muay Thai Finale Brings Global Focus to Thailand’s Cultural Heritage
The Amazing Muay Thai: Road to Rajadamnern 2024 concluded with an exciting finale at Bangkok’s historic Rajadamnern Stadium on 20 December 2024. Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Global Sport Ventures, the event celebrated Thailand’s cultural identity and showcased Muay Thai’s worldwide appeal.
Spectacular Matches and Winners Announced
The final featured four intense bouts between Thai athletes and international competitors. In the men’s lightweight (135 lbs) category, Yodtanong Phetwanglang from Thailand defeated Czech fighter Tomik Nguyen. Australian Bryony Soden secured victory over Petchmai Sor. Pracha in the women’s featherweight (126 lbs) match.

Cultural Connections Across Continents
The Road to Rajadamnern series highlighted Muay Thai as a vital element of Thai culture while reaching a global audience. Matches held in Spain, Australia, and the Czech Republic earlier in the year drew 5,200 attendees overall, including 1,650 in Cádiz, 1,200 in Melbourne, and 1,200 in Prague.
More than 6 million impressions were generated online, with over 30 million people reached through traditional media. The event successfully positioned Muay Thai as both a sport and a cultural ambassador for Thailand’s rich traditions.
Driving Tourism Through Muay Thai
TAT Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool emphasized Muay Thai’s cultural significance and its role in attracting international visitors to Thailand. “This sport embodies our history and traditions while inviting people worldwide to experience its origins,” she said.
Building on the success of the 2024 series, TAT aims to integrate Muay Thai into future campaigns that strengthen Thailand’s position as a cultural tourism destination.
