Thailand Showcases Sustainable Tourism and Wins Top Honors at ITB Asia 2024
Bangkok, 1 November 2024 – Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr. Sorawong Thienthong, along with Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, Mrs. Ureerat Chareontoh, and Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, inaugurated the Thailand Pavilion at ITB Asia 2024 in Singapore.
At ITB Asia, TAT highlighted Thailand’s initiatives in sustainable and responsible tourism, part of the “IGNITE THAILAND’s TOURISM” strategy. The Thailand Pavilion featured “Five Must-Do” experiences, showcasing both iconic and off-the-beaten-path destinations. Visitors enjoyed D.I.Y. activities, creating souvenirs from upcycled marine debris materials, symbolizing Thailand’s dedication to environmental protection.
With the support of the Phuket Tourism Association, TAT collaborated with 32 Thai tourism operators, including hotels, resorts, and tour services, as well as strategic partners TAGTHAI and Thailand Privilege Card. Over 800 B2B meetings facilitated networking and growth for Thai tourism enterprises.
Thailand was also awarded the “2024 Global Partner Award – Most Popular Destination” by Trip.com, underscoring its strong appeal to global travelers and successful partnerships between TAT and Trip.com.
In 2023, more than one million Singaporeans traveled to Thailand. By 21 October 2024, arrivals had reached 747,994, with Bangkok, Songkhla, Phuket, Krabi, and Pattaya being top destinations.
In 2024, TAT aims to welcome over one million Singaporean visitors, projecting a tourism revenue of 48 billion Baht. Key target segments include cross-border and Fly & Drive travelers, Health & Wellness tourists, sports enthusiasts, young travelers, and cruise passengers.
