Thailand Poised as Asia’s Premier Exhibition Destination at TCEB’s 2024 Summit
Global leaders and TCEB collaborate to boost Thailand’s exhibition sector and economic growth, highlighting its strategic advantage in Asia.
Thailand’s exhibition sector is set for remarkable growth following the 2024 Exhibition Industry Summit hosted by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). The summit, held under the theme “See Tomorrow Now,” drew top executives from leading exhibition organizations across Europe and Asia, all recognizing Thailand’s potential as Asia’s premier exhibition hub.
Their confidence stems from Thailand’s supportive government policies, advanced infrastructure, and celebrated hospitality, all crucial to an evolving global exhibition industry. Participants further recommended that the local industry embrace cutting-edge digital technologies to stay ahead in a competitive market.
The summit’s theme underscored the country’s forward-looking stance, positioning Thailand as an ideal destination for future business expansion. Discussions included ways to leverage exhibitions as springboards for economic growth and how to attract global events that align with Thailand’s strategic goals.
TCEB President, Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, said, “This summit has opened new doors for Thailand’s exhibition industry. It was an honor to host leaders from Europe and Asia, providing them with insights into Thailand’s vision and future plans.
Their recommendations will be invaluable in shaping strategies and developing the industry to meet global expectations.” The event also saw leaders meet with Thai Prime Minister Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, who reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing Thailand as a premier exhibition destination.
The Prime Minister also introduced a “One Stop Service System” aimed at simplifying exhibition logistics, fostering innovation, and supporting Thailand’s economic goals.
The summit agenda featured a roundtable discussion with Thai officials, including Vice Ministers from Tourism and Sports, Digital Economy, and Society, underscoring the role of exhibitions in attracting foreign direct investment and boosting high-value tourism, which supports 12% of Thailand’s GDP.
Experts from the International Finance Corporation and Thailand Development Research Institute shared perspectives on Thailand’s role in the global value chain. The “Thailand’s Economic Potential and ASEAN Integration” panel explored growth opportunities across industries such as medical, fintech, and technology.
TCEB also spotlighted Thailand’s focus on sustainable practices through the use of hybrid vehicles, a gala featuring locally sourced ingredients, and waste minimization efforts. The summit blended business and culture, featuring traditional Thai art and performances, creating a dynamic atmosphere that reflected Thailand’s rich heritage.
TCEB expects to draw 60 new exhibitions to Thailand from 2025 to 2027, potentially contributing 7.4 billion baht and 426,000 visitors to the economy, with an additional 11.6 billion baht in economic impact from exhibition-related travel.
