170 Taiwanese businesses present advancements in smart tech, healthcare, and sustainability, strengthening Taiwan-Thailand partnerships.

TAIWAN EXPO 2024 kicked off in Bangkok on November 21, 2024. Organized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and executed by TAITRA, the event highlights Taiwan’s technological contributions under the theme “Advancing Smart New Southbound.”

With 170 companies showcasing their expertise, the expo spans 10 pavilions and six exhibition areas, featuring breakthroughs in smart manufacturing, healthcare, lifestyle solutions, circular economy, and cultural tourism.

Visitors can explore interactive attractions like a Taiwanese zodiac lantern-making workshop and a native plant color-dyeing activity. The TAIWAN SELECT area offers authentic Taiwanese cuisine, drawing crowds eager to experience its culinary and cultural heritage.

Cynthia Kiang, Director-General of the International Trade Administration, emphasized Thailand’s pivotal role as a destination for investment. Taiwan’s capabilities in semiconductors, green tech, and smart systems complement Thailand’s industrial development goals, fostering collaborations aimed at industrial transformation and mutual economic growth.

Ambassador Chang Chun-Fu highlighted the growing synergy between the nations, from job creation to education exchanges. Thai students in Taiwan have quadrupled in the last decade, while Taiwanese students in Thailand increased sixfold. He sees potential for both countries to collaborate in building a smarter, more sustainable future.

James Huang, TAITRA’s Chairman, spotlighted Taiwan’s expertise in smart manufacturing and green technology, with innovations like AI-driven systems and eco-friendly production tools aimed at helping Thailand achieve net-zero emissions.

Healthcare innovations are another key area. Taiwanese hospitals and medical companies introduced smart ward setups to tackle challenges in Thailand’s healthcare, particularly for its ageing population.

The expo also includes industry discussions such as smart healthcare forums and net-zero technology dialogues, providing networking opportunities for businesses.

TAIWAN EXPO 2024 runs until November 23, 2024, at Hall 5, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Admission is free.
