Bangkok student merges Thai herbal wisdom with science, developing antifungal creams for underserved Thai communities.

Thailand’s climate fosters skin infections, especially in disadvantaged communities with limited healthcare access. Inspired by her volunteer work in Bangkok’s Khlong Toey slum, 17-year-old Trinity Jantarach, a student at Bangkok Patana School, sought to address this issue through Botanica, her social project.

Combining Thai herbs and biochemistry research, Trinity developed an antifungal cream using Snake Jasmine extract. Under Professor Sittinan Chanarat at Mahidol University, she cultivated and tested the herb’s properties, leading to FDA-approved, community-distributed products. Her journey included partnerships with Mercy Centre and Princess Mother’s Medical Volunteer Unit, where she donated creams and provided skin care education.

“Botanica represents my mission to help vulnerable communities find relief,” Trinity shares. Her ongoing outreach efforts, supported by local herb farmers, promote health benefits and economic stability in Thailand’s underserved regions.
