HaadThip Marks 55 Years with Focus on Sustainability
New glass bottle line launched at Punpin plant highlights commitment to eco-friendly packaging and regional growth.
HaadThip Public Company Limited (HTC), Coca-Cola’s exclusive bottling partner in 14 southern provinces of Thailand, has introduced a high-tech glass bottle production line at its Punpin facility in Surat Thani. Built according to Coca-Cola’s global standards, the innovative line strengthens HaadThip’s dedication to sustainability and regional development after 55 years of operation.
Founded in 1969, the company operates two manufacturing plants, Hat Yai and Punpin, with over 2,000 employees across 19 branches. Its mission is to balance business growth with community progress.
Commitment to Sustainability
John Benedetti, Senior Vice President – Supply Chain, highlighted HaadThip’s eco-conscious approach. He noted that the company has led the non-alcoholic beverage market in Southern Thailand by focusing on responsible practices. Initiatives like optimising water use, adopting renewable energy, and introducing the glass bottle line contribute to reducing environmental impact and boosting the local economy.
Nuntivat Thamhatai, Vice President – Corporate Affairs and Communications, underscored the company’s regional dedication. He affirmed HaadThip’s mission to uplift communities while integrating environmental and social responsibility into its operations.
Cutting-Edge Glass Bottle Line
The Punpin plant, established in 2013 and spanning 315 rai (50.4 hectares), supports HaadThip’s expanding business. It features six production lines, including the new glass bottle line capable of producing 800 bottles per minute for both returnable and non-returnable packaging. The addition serves industries like hotels, restaurants, and catering, promoting sustainable packaging solutions in the region.
Eco-Friendly Practices
HaadThip has implemented advanced water efficiency techniques, recycling 100% of water used in non-beverage production. The plant aims to lower water usage to 1.39 litres per unit by 2030. Renewable energy sources, such as solar power, currently generate 19% of the facility’s energy, with a goal of reaching 28% by 2025. The transition to electric forklifts, NGV transport, and LPG boilers further cuts emissions.
Innovations in Packaging
Efforts to reduce plastic usage have led to a 911-ton decrease in PET resin consumption since 2019. The company also promotes circular packaging through initiatives like the ‘Coke Recycle Me’ campaign. New product developments include 100% rPET bottles and biodegradable paper labels for glass bottles.
Recognised Sustainability Leadership
HaadThip has been consistently featured in the SET ESG Ratings for six years and holds a 5-star corporate governance rating, reflecting its strong commitment to sustainability.
