BMA and Bayer Thai Launch 'Healthy Up! Run 2024'

Bangkok hosts a health-focused walk-run event honouring the King’s 6th cycle birthday and advancing public health goals.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Bayer Thai Co., Ltd. are teaming up for the “Healthy Up! Run 2024,” taking place at Benchakitti Park in Bangkok on December 22, 2024. This event celebrates His Majesty the King’s 6th cycle birthday while encouraging healthier lifestyles and highlighting the importance of early detection and treatment for endometriosis. It supports Bangkok’s vision of becoming a “Healthy City” under its 20-year development plan and aligns with Bayer’s global mission of promoting health and eliminating hunger.

Governor of Bangkok, Dr. Chadchart Sittipunt, and Ms. Likki-Lee Pitzen, Head of Culture Section and Press at the German Embassy, led the opening ceremony, stressing the role of public health programs in improving community wellness. Key attendees included Mr. Bradley Williams, Managing Director of Bayer Thai Co., Ltd., Dr. Sunthorn Sunthornchart, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the BMA, and Dr. Lertlak Leelaruengsang, Director of the Medical Service Department at the BMA. Other notable participants included Mr. Thai Peng Mak, Country Division Head of Bayer Consumer Health, and Mr. Weraphon Charoenpanit, Country Commercial Lead of Bayer Crop Science, along with executives and community members.

As part of their partnership, BMA and Bayer Thai introduced a “Healthy Up! Talk” session focused on abdominal pain and endometriosis. Expert speakers such as Dr. Sawitree Suvikrom of Charoenkrung Pracharak Hospital and Dr. Paneeya Sutabutra, Country Medical Director of Bayer Thai Co., Ltd., shared insights on recognising symptoms and the benefits of early intervention.

The event also celebrated Bangkok’s recognition by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of five Healthy Cities in Thailand and 11 in Southeast Asia. This recognition highlights the city’s progress in promoting wellness, strengthening public health systems, and supporting vulnerable groups.

Participants at “Healthy Up! Run 2024” joined an engaging walk-run activity and gained practical health tips, making the day an impactful experience.
